We headed up to Maine in mid-August to hang with the Trippes, the Gages, and other various friends. The first full day we were there, Laura and I took all of our kids, Alex, and Alex's cousin Gracie (who was visiting from Jacksonville) over to Mackworth Island to the beach. Mackworth is the island that is home to about a zillion fairie houses in the woods (see my previous post from Memorial weekend for those pictures), but also has a sand beach. There aren't many sand beaches in Maine, so the kids were really excited to visit. The water was still really cold, but all the kids went in and went under.
Gracie, Caleb, Alex, Potter and Molly, trying to work up the nerve to dive under.
Caleb went first, my brave little guy!
Alex and Potter were next (Gracie ended up being last, that Floridian can't handle the cold water of the north :)
Alex was also able to make Caleb into a merman and Molly into a mermaid.

Way to go, Caleb. Show those sissies how it's done.
