Caleb writes his name for the first time

Too bad this was on a scrap piece of paper with political science mathy stuff all over it. But, if you look carefully, you'll see the 'b' on the left (it is a line with two circles on it), then you'll notice the 'c' at the bottom, the 'a', 'l', and 'e' are all together. I have been thinking he was a bit behind on his letters, but this morning, he really took an interest and surprised me.

Friday night, Dave had a reception to attend, so the kids had a 'p' dinner - a picnic with pineapple, pigs in blankets, and pasta. It was a lot of fun, and then we watched a movie afterwards!!

Caleb is 3 1/2, but still likes ears to hold.....

Potter's last basketball game was on Saturday. Molly went with me to cheer him on!! After the game, the coach gave each player a small basketball, which everyone autographed, and a certificate. I am sure that Potter will do basketball again, he had a great time, learned a lot of skills, met some neat kids!!

3D movie on a rainy afternoon

While Caleb and Dave were making slime, I took Potter, Molly and Neil to see 'How to Train your Dragon'.....in 3D!!! I haven't seen a 3D movie in a bunch of years. The glasses are so much better now; used to be cardboard glasses with one blue and one red lens, and they didn't stay on very well. These are actual heavy plastic and the lenses are dark, making them look like regular sunglasses. It was so much fun!!!

SLIME

This afternoon, Dave and Caleb had some time together. They found the recipe that Potter used last weekend at ICK to make our own slime!!! Of course, you have to make green slime, would any other color do?? Caleb had a marvelous time, both having Daddy to himself and the slime to himself!

Dave found this new gin at our local Mom and Pop liquor store. He said that all the bottles of this come with these bowler hats on them. I think it is hilarious, and will buy the gin strictly to get the bowler hats.

Crash got a bandana today (Caleb calls it Crash's 'bandaid') and he looks smashing!!

Playing outside

Today was quite busy for the Clarks, mostly for Potter! We started out at the pancake breakfast at Molly and Caleb's preschool, then Potter went to basketball, where his team won their first game (!), and then Potter spent the day at the downtown BU center for ICK! (I'm a Complex Kid) which is the coolest science afternoon ever!!! The younger two kids, after Caleb's nap, spent 2 1/2 hours by themselves in the backyard playing. Can I just say how amazing they are together and how well they play? Kids NEED this unstructured playtime, either outside or inside, but outside is sooooo much better, especially since we are experiencing some fabulous spring weather right now! Caleb has become just as agile of a tree climber as Molly and Potter, a feat he is extremely proud of, being the youngest of the clan. These close up shots just melt my heart. **Love my kids**

Inaugural bike ride of spring!

Our 10 days of sunshine has sadly come to an end today, but we managed to squeeze in the first outing of wheels yesterday afternoon. Potter and I made a quick trip down to the corner gas station to pump up the tires on his bike and Molly's bike, then came home and let everyone outside to ride!! Caleb finally has long enough legs to reach the pedals on the big wheel, but he also loved riding Potter's scooter and didn't do too poorly at all! Potter rides so smoothly on his bike and this might be the summer that Molly learns to ride a bike without training wheels. It was so gorgeous outside, loved standing in the sunshine and warmth. Spontaneous snow (well, ice) fun

A walk with Potter and Crashy on Sunday afternoon turned into a playdate for Potter, who then stayed down at his friend Ella's house and his buddy Neil was over too. When they walked Potter home, the kids decided it would be fun to throw the snow/ice onto the roof of the house and try to get it over the top to the backyard.

Holy cow, I think I took out a squirrel on the roof!

Now Molly, if you pack it really tightly, it'll hurt Potter more when you nail him!!

Pre School Art Show

Last Friday night was the Art Show at Molly and Caleb's preschool. It had been postponed a week, due to our massive snow storm. The teachers selected 2 pieces of art for each child and then framed and matted them all then hung them on the walls of the school. It was so amazing!!! Just so you know, there are well over 100 children at the school, so that was a lot of individual pieces of art. There was live classical music, tons of refreshments with punch, silent auction items that were collaborative class projects, as well as the children's individual art pieces. Parents were only allowed to purchase their own child's art, but the silent auction items were available for everyone to bid on. Even a couple of the teachers had painted items that were for sale. Our children had such a great time looking at all the artwork and were extremely proud of their own. Just as in a real gallery sale, once you purchased your child's art, they placed a red dot on the name plate indicated that it was sold!!! Such a lovely night and just another reason we *love* that school so much!!
