At the inauguration

Jumbo tron picture of Bill and Hillary Clinton (trust me, it is them!).   Potter continues to get that free ride on Dave.   Look carefully through the trees and over the tops of the busses and you'll see the moving trucks that are getting all the Bushes stuff out and the Obamas stuff in - yay!!!  Obama on the jumbo tron as he is sworn in.  Pretty cool stuff!!!

Sheer number of people, views from near the Monument and then up at the Monument towards the WWII Memorial.  Potter was so into this and his pride shows!!!

Another row of port-o-potties.  I became obsessed with photographing these.  The huge pilgrimmage towards the Monument.  Photos of the family, all shouting 'Barack Obama'.  That usually started someone else shouting 'Obama' nearby!   The sea of people.  It was astounding!

Very, very squishy on the metro ride in.  Long waits on the outside near the escalator and then on the platform, but everything was well organized.   Military vehicles, large flags flown with pride, frozen fountain near the Monument.  You'd think that some people have never seen a frozen pond before.  And many idiots were walking way out towards the middle where it was less frozen.  Duh!!

Inauguration pre-party

At Wendy's apartment, we had a little inauguration party for the kids.  Just a snacky sort of dinner and then some flags and ring bling (which sadly, I don't think I have pictures of).  Potter and Molly getting into it with the flags.  Potter then used Playmobil people to make Joe Biden and Barack Obama riding into D.C. on a horse and cart.   Barack is wearing black, instead of actually BEING black.   Potter and I wave flags, then Caleb shoves a flag in Wendy's back pocket.   Caleb then will pose with his flag for the camera.

On the mall with port-o-potties

On the mall they had tons of jumbo-trons, and you can see the Capital in the background here.  They were showing the rerun of the concert we missed the previous afternoon.   I have another pic of the people on the mall.  Also, two pictures of the port-o-potties which were EVERYWHERE.  There were never less than 50 in a row.  Amazing.  Would hate to be the crew to clean up that mess the next week.

Museum of Natural History

Clarks, Wendy, Dylan and Whitney under giant right whale.   Looking at the dinos.....

Museum of American History

Molly and Potter with American History Museum character.  Kids and Dave with steam engine.  Molly in her beloved elevator.   Caleb loved the big engines and motors.  Kids with the fake doorway to nowhere.

Presidential parade booth

Up close of the presidential parade booth.  Notice the light snow falling.  It was very picturesque.

Monday in D.C.

Family on the metro.  Wendy and Molly (notice we are not scrunched up yet!)  Crazy metro map (I took the picture so that we could look at it when not on the metro, smart of me, eh?)  Presidential parade set up, complete with cool sign board.

At Wendy's apartment

Kids always get Playmobil from Wendy.  Caleb horking down cheese and crackers with Wendy's orange crocs on.  The kids loved that Wendy's cats would sleep on their bed.  Then they slept on their bed too!!

First afternoon in D.C.

All sorts of protestors, we loved this one.  Military police and cars all over, Caleb loved that!!  The crowd coming back from the concert on the mall.  Neat metro station shot.
